Introduction:

Dr Amit Sehgal is a dynamic Infectious Diseases specialist and the first holder of a DM degree in Infectious Diseases for a PGIMER, Chandigarh alumni. Renowned for his excellent academic record, Dr Sehgal has consistently been a topper from his MBBS professional exams to his DM entrance exams. Upon completing his academic training in the field of infectious diseases, Dr Sehgal came to this beautiful city Nashik and is the first and the only DM Infectious Diseases in the Nashik city. Dr Sehgal is now serving at KIMS Manavata Hospital, Nashik as Consultant Infectious Diseases.

Dr Sehgal pursued his MBBS at Saraswathi Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Hapur Uttar Pradesh. He received annual academic scholarship for the university professional examination throughout all MBBS professional exams. Then, he pursued his MD from prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. During his residency at PGIMER, Chandigarh, he won the title of Mr PGI ZENTH 2017 in the annual fest. He participated as a main lead in a skit organised on Hand Hygiene Day. He received 2nd prize in Limerick competition organised on antimicrobial stewardship practices (AMSP). He won 3rd prize in quiz organised on CDC Fungal Diseases awareness week Sep 2019. Then, Dr Sehgal did Post Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC) from Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi in 2020. He won the prize for the institute annual magazine 2020 title “Hepitome”.

He achieved an impressive All India Rank 1 for DM Infectious Diseases subject in the AIIMS super speciality entrance exam allowing him admission in the prestigious 3 years DM Infectious Diseases course at AIIMS, New Delhi in 2021. During his three years DM residency, Dr Sehgal participated in various international programmes like Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) fellows-mentorship. He connected with Dr Saman Nematollahi, IDSA expert and program director of Infectious Diseases fellowship program at University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson USA. He shared the insights of Infectious Diseases practices in USA. Dr Sehgal significantly contributed to the Global Infectious Diseases Fellows Cup (IDFC) organised by University of Alabama, Birmingham and made board style questions for the season 2021 and 2022. Dr Sehgal participated and also presented in the weekly ID Journal Club in the department of Medicine at AIIMS, New Delhi.

Dr Sehgal has contributed significantly to the field of Infectious Diseases, authoring the national module on extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) management adopted and published by WHO India and Central TB Division (CTD), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) launched by our honourable The Prime Minister of India Shri Narender Modi ji on World TB Day 24 March 2023 at Varanasi. Upon completing his academic training, Dr Sehgal came to this beautiful city Nashik and is now serving at KIMS Manavata Hospital, Nashik as Consultant Infectious Diseases.
