Paediatric Cardiology

The division Paediatric Cardiology has full time dedicated and exclusive Paediatric Cardiologists with a wide ranging experience in delivering holistic care to neonates, infants and children with all range of cardiac problems. The specialists have expertise in all forms of cardiological evaluations and interventions for all range of ailments with congenital heart disease.

Echocardiography

Echocardiography is the main diagnostic tool to identify all range of diseases in babies. The division is equipped with the latest 2D and 3D echocardiography machine. Apart from this, the services also offer Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) for children. In addition, facilities for prenatal detection of Congenital Heart Disease (fetal echocardiography) are also available.

CT and MRI

Non invasive methods of evaluation such as CT angiography of the heart and lungs and MRI are available in the hospital.

Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

A dedicated world class cardiac catheterization laboratory has been designated where several diagnostic and interventional procedures are performed on children with heart disease.

Paediatric Cardiac Surgery

The division of paediatric cardiac surgery has a dedicated group of Paediatric Cardiac Surgeons who operate exclusively on children, neonates and infants with various forms of congenital and acquired heart defects. The surgeons are full time attached to KIMS Hospitals and are available to our patients round the clock.

Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

The Center is supported by an exclusive sophisticated ICU for managing babies after cardiac surgery. The ICU has 12 beds with internationally accepted bed-spacing in between each patient. There is a separate isolation room for managing Complex Cardiac Surgery. The ICU has world class tube delivery system from the nursing station for transporting blood investigations and blood products between the ICU, laboratory and blood bank. This will enable rapid delivery of samples from the ICU and prevents delay in delivery of blood products from the blood bank.

The team comprises of a dedicated and experienced group of intensivists who are paediatricians trained in critical care for the neonates and infants. In addition, the ICU is manned by a big group of skilled critical care nurses led by team leaders with several years of experience both in critical care and training.
