Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

The Section of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at KIMS specializes in the diagnosis and management of children with physically disabling conditions. Our physicians are board-certified specialists with additional certification with either Pediatric Board Certification or Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Fellowship training. We offer a Comprehensive Pediatric Family-Centered Care Inpatient Rehabilitation Program. Our Day Treatment Program can be customized to meet the needs of the patient/family. Our Rehabilitation Clinic is established for follow-up visits, as well as evaluation for potential admission.

Sleep Medicine

The Sleep Disorders Center KIMS assists primary care physicians and specialists with the diagnosis and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with sleep problems. Whatever the cause, the Sleep Disorders Program at KIMS can comprehensively evaluate patients and make appropriate treatment recommendations.Overnight sleep study, called polysomnography, is the standard for diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Patients are monitored throughout the night, measuring brainwaves, nasal and oral airflow, EKG, EEG, REM sleep, oxygen saturation, expired carbon dioxide, EMG, and chest wall and abdominal wall movement. Review of the study by the Center director determines whether the patient is at risk and needs to be seen in clinic that day, or whether the patient can be sent home with or without a therapeutic device.
