The Transurethral Ultrasound Ablation (TULSA) method is a minimally invasive technique that targets prostate tissue by producing extremely high temperatures using directed ultrasound. Ablation of prostate tissue from the 'inside-out' is done using the TULSA-PRO® equipment in an MRI suite. The process delivers predictable, doctor prescribed ablation of whole gland or partial prostate tissue by combining real time MRI with robotically powered, directed thermal ultrasound.
Through the urethra (the tube that transports urine from the bladder), a very thin applicator wand known as an ultrasound transducer is placed into the prostate gland under the direction of real time MRI. The applicator device rotates during TULSA, sweeping the gland with successive planes of concentrated soundwaves or ultrasonic energy. The prostate can be reached more easily because sound waves destructive force is transmitted through the urethra. For some patients, thinking about TULSA as a "inside-out" treatment is beneficial. Notably, TULSA can be used to treat any volume of tissue, from a little focal tumor to the entire gland, thanks to its ability to adjust to a variety of pre planned targeted ablation (destruction) techniques.
TULSA treatment prevents unintentional harm to nearby tissues that regulate sexual and urine function because of MRI-based treatment planning, as well as MRI guidance and monitoring during the entire process.
"TULSA-PRO is the first transurethral ultrasound device to earn FDA approval for the ablation of prostate tissue," according to the Focused Ultrasound Foundation. Positive findings from a worldwide clinical trial including 115 patients, which demonstrated an average 95% PSA reduction to a low threshold of 0.34 ng/ml, served as the foundation for the FDA's decision. The incidence of sexual and urinary side effects following prostatectomy was minimal.

TULSA-PRO accurately targets prostate tissue by using MRI feedback and transurethral ultrasound energy.
Most patients can go home the same day and resume normal activities within a few days.
Temporary urinary symptoms, mild discomfort or blood in the urine may occur. Serious complications are rare.
Yes, KIMS Hospitals is the first and only center in India offering this advanced treatment.
It is suitable for patients with localized prostate cancer or those seeking a non-invasive alternative to traditional treatments.
