The KIMS Stroke Clinic, one of the first comprehensive multidisciplinary centers of its kind, was established in to develop new approaches to diagnose and treat stroke. We assembled a team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, nurse specialists, basic scientists, and clinical researchers with the goal of significantly improving the chances that a patient can prevent, or recover optimally, from a stroke.
We have developed an innovative stroke program that is transforming the way stroke is diagnosed and managed. Our neurocritical care program has made key advances in the diagnosis of intracerebral hemorrhage and the prognosis of coma. KIMS neuroscientists have helped clarify the basic mechanisms of stroke-induced brain injury and have pioneered several new imaging techniques that allow us to successfully treat selected patients up to 12 hours after symptom onset.
